The Republican Party first came together in Ripon, Wisconsin in 1858, to support the abolition of slavery. Waukesha County has voter Republican in almost every election since then.

Waukesha County Republicans are powerful leaders in Madison today and have been ever since Alexander William Randall served as the first Republican Governor (1858-1862).

As Wisconsin’s largest and best county political organization, the Republican Party of Waukesha County has attracted many national leaders to its Lincoln Day Dinners, including Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George Herbert Bush and George Walker Bush.
